Who We Are
OLAS is a word derived from the Spanish language, meaning WAVES. This name evokes the idea of the rhythmic, flowing nature of ceramics and symbolizes constant movement and growth. It expresses our willingness to adapt and embrace change while staying rooted in our artistic foundation. ‘Ceramics’ signifies the material and craft, while ‘Olas’ adds a touch of elegance and fluidity, highlighting the artistry and dynamic nature of the creations produced here.
Kyle Denton is a ceramic artist, born and raised in San Clemente, California. While studying at San Francisco State University, he received his BA in Studio Arts with a focus in ceramics. Furthering his ceramic studies in New Zealand, he worked as a production potter to help develop his skills using a variety of techniques. His work is influenced by the Southern California surf and skate culture while finding inspiration in the different environments he's lived in. He has been featured in galleries internationally and is continuing to perfect his craft through producing pottery and teaching for his business, Olas Ceramics.
