Pottery Class Pointers

Read over these important tips before taking your first class!

Tip #1: Wear casual and comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Luckily the clay that we use comes out of fabric with a regular wash, but there are glazes and other materials that may not be as forgiving.

Tip#2: If you have long hair, bring a hair tie to wear it up.
This is crucial to avoid accidents on the wheel.

Tip#3: Trim your fingernails.
Long fingernails make throwing on the wheel and shaping clay much more difficult. We want you to be able to work with ease and get the most out of class!

Tip#4: Remove your jewelry.
Rings, watches and bracelets will only get in the way when working with clay.

Arrival

Parking in rear of building. Please be to class 5-10  minutes prior to your scheduled class/workshop. If running late after 15 minutes of start time, you will be asked to reschedule.

Pottery Pick ups

Pottery is a long process and can take anywhere between 3-4 weeks to get your pieces ready for pick up. After your work is fired you have 60 days to pick up. After 60 days, pieces will be discarded no exceptions.

*We cannot guarantee that your pottery will make it back to you the way that you left it. We do our best to care for your work as if it were our own, but there are many variables working in this medium. In an event where something happens to your piece, you may be able to remake another.
